Morgan Grimes is passionate about creating impactful strategies to foster two-way engagement with stakeholders. With a natural affinity for writing, planning, and storytelling, Morgan has been able to tie her interests into her daily activities working as a communications and public relations professional.
Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, Morgan has enjoyed working directly with the communities she grew up with. For three years, she was the Communications and Outreach Specialist for the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments. Specifically, she played a significant role with Lowcountry Rapid Transit, South Carolina’s planned bus rapid transit system. In this role, Morgan coordinated and led a multitude of outreach efforts with various stakeholders involved in this project. Morgan also has experience managing different social media accounts, where she would take informing and entertaining content and share it in a compelling way to promote key messaging with target audiences.
Before her role at BCDCOG, Morgan graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2020, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. During her time at USC, she served as Public Relations Chair for the National Association of Black Journalists and was also a Social Media Assistant for USC’s Alumni Association. Morgan is currently pursuing her master’s degree in strategic communication from Purdue University.
During her free time, Morgan can be found attending the latest cultural arts, music, or food festivals with friends, volunteering with her favorite non-profits, traveling to a new city, or supporting the Gamecocks’ sports teams with her family.
